Balancing Between Annual Sourcing Budget And Custom Thread Gauges And Thread Taps Stock In Your Tool Room?

One of the key considerations in striking the balance between annual sourcing budget and custom thread gauges and thread taps stock in your tool room is understanding the specific needs and usage patterns within your manufacturing operations. Conducting a comprehensive analysis of the demand for custom thread gauges and thread taps allows for informed budgetary decisions. Assessing the historical usage patterns and anticipating future requirements are vital aspects in determining the appropriate stock levels and budget allocations.
A critical factor in this delicate balancing act is the variability in demand for custom thread gauges and thread taps throughout the year. Seasonal fluctuations or project-specific requirements may influence the consumption rates, and aligning the annual sourcing budget with these variations is crucial. Adjusting stock levels based on anticipated demand variations helps avoid overstocking or understocking, ensuring that the tool room is adequately equipped to meet operational needs without unnecessary financial strain.
Another consideration in balancing the annual sourcing budget and tool room stock involves evaluating the lead times associated with procuring custom thread gauges and thread taps. Understanding the typical turnaround times from suppliers allows for strategic planning in aligning stock levels with project timelines. Businesses can optimize their budget by avoiding rush orders or excessive stockpiling, aligning the procurement schedule with the lead times to maintain a lean and efficient tool room.
Technology advancements and innovations in precision machining may also impact the equilibrium between the annual sourcing budget and tool room stock. Staying abreast of technological developments ensures that the stock in the tool room aligns with the latest requirements and specifications. Investing in state-of-the-art custom thread gauges and thread taps may require adjustments in the annual budget, but it ensures that the tool room remains equipped with cutting-edge tools that enhance efficiency and precision.
Ensuring a seamless flow of information between these departments allows for real-time adjustments in stock levels and budget allocations based on evolving operational needs. The procurement team must have a clear understanding of the production schedule and project timelines to align sourcing decisions with the trapezoidal thread taps demands of the tool room.
Implementing a robust inventory management system is instrumental in maintaining equilibrium between the annual sourcing budget and tool room stock. Leveraging technology to track stock levels, monitor usage patterns, and generate timely reports facilitates data-driven decision-making.

Fastener thread processing method, including internal and external threads
Thread processing is a process that uses tools to make threads and uses cutting, turning, milling, grinding and other processes to process workpieces. Generally, it refers to the method of processing threads on the workpiece with shaped tools or abrasive tools. There are mainly the following methods of fastener thread processing:
1. Thread cutting
Generally refers to the method of machining threads on a workpiece with a forming tool or an abrasive tool, which mainly includes turning, milling, tapping, threading grinding, grinding, and whirlwind cutting. When turning, milling and grinding threads, the transmission chain of the machine tool ensures that the turning tool, milling cutter or grinding wheel moves along the axis of the workpiece accurately and uniformly for each revolution of the workpiece.
When tapping or threading, the tool (tap or die) rotates relative to the workpiece, and the first formed thread groove guides the tool (or workpiece) to move axially.
2. Thread turning
For turning threads on a lathe, a forming turning tool or a thread comb tool can be used. Turning threads with a forming turning tool is a common method for single-piece and small batch production of threaded workpieces due to the simple tool structure; turning threads with a thread comb has high production efficiency, but the tool structure is complex, which is only suitable for medium and mass production. Turning fine-tooth short-threaded workpieces.
The pitch accuracy of the trapezoidal thread turning on an ordinary lathe can generally only reach 8-9 (JB2886-81, the same below); when threading on a specialized threading lathe, the productivity or accuracy can be significantly improved.
3. Thread milling
Milling is performed on a thread milling machine with a disk milling cutter or a comb milling cutter. Disc-shaped milling cutters are mainly used for milling trapezoidal external threads on screw, worm and other workpieces. The comb milling cutter is used for milling internal and external common threads and taper threads. Since it is milled with a multi-edge milling cutter, the length of its working part is greater than the length of the thread being machined, so the workpiece can be machined only by rotating 1.25 to 1.5 revolutions Finished, the productivity is high.
The pitch accuracy of thread milling can generally reach 8 to 9, and the surface roughness is R5 to 0.63 microns. This method is suitable for mass production of general precision threaded workpieces or rough machining before grinding.
4. Thread grinding
It is mainly used for processing precision threads of hardened workpieces on thread grinders. According to the different cross-sectional shapes of the grinding wheels, there are two types of single-line grinding wheels and multi-line grinding wheels. The pitch accuracy that can be achieved by single-line grinding wheel grinding is 5 to 6, and the surface roughness is R1.25 to 0.08 microns, and the grinding wheel dressing is more convenient. This method is suitable for grinding precision lead screws, thread gauges, worms, small batches of threaded workpieces and relieving precision hobs.
Multi-line grinding wheel grinding is divided into two types: longitudinal grinding method and plunge grinding method. The width of the grinding wheel of the longitudinal grinding method is smaller than the length of the thread to be ground, and the thread can be ground to the final size by moving the grinding wheel one or several strokes in the longitudinal direction. The width of the grinding wheel of the plunge grinding method is greater than the length of the thread to be ground. The grinding wheel cuts into the surface of the workpiece radially, and the workpiece can be ground after about 1.25 revolutions. The productivity is higher, but the accuracy is slightly lower, and the dressing of the grinding wheel is more complicated. The plunge grinding method is suitable for relieving large batches of taps and grinding certain fastening threads.
5. Thread grinding
Use softer materials such as cast iron to make nut-type or screw-type thread grinds, and perform forward and reverse rotation grinding on the parts of the machined threads with pitch errors on the workpiece to improve the pitch accuracy. Hardened internal threads are usually ground to eliminate deformation and improve accuracy.
6. Tapping and threading
Tapping is to use a certain torque to screw the tap into the pre-drilled bottom hole on the workpiece to process the internal thread.
Threading is to use a die to cut an external thread on a bar (or tube) workpiece. The processing accuracy of tapping or threading depends on the accuracy of the tap or die. Although there are many methods for processing internal and external threads, small diameter internal threads can only be processed by taps. Tapping and threading can be operated manually, or lathes, drilling machines, tapping machines and threading machines can also be used.
7. Thread rolling
The processing method of plastically deforming the workpiece with a forming rolling die to obtain a thread. Thread rolling is generally performed on a thread rolling machine or an automatic lathe with an automatic opening and closing thread rolling head. It is suitable for mass production standards. External threads of fasteners and other threaded couplings.

Trapezoidal thread taps – The concept and precautions
Whenever you think of load bearing machines, the square threads come to mind. They are the strongest of all the threads. However, the cutter technology available today makes it economically unviable to manufacture square threads. This is because of the sharp 900 angle they have to adhere to. They have a better option in the form of the ACME threads at 290 and trapezoidal threads at 300. This not only makes it easy to manufacture new threads but also makes it stronger. Hence, these threads have become common all over the world. Thus, you find the trapezoidal thread taps becoming popular.
Difference between ACME and trapezoidal threads:
Basically speaking, there is not much difference between the two. The principal difference is that ACME threads have an angle of 290 whereas the trapezoidal threads have an angle of 300. Otherwise, they are literally the same. This difference necessitates the use of a separate tool to manufacture the trapezoidal threads. Hence, you have the trapezoidal thread tap.
Use of trapezoidal thread:
This is a heavy duty thread and hence has use in position adjustment devices, transmission devices, jacks, aircraft doors, and many other vantage locations. This makes it an important thread. One cannot underestimate the value of this thread in any way.
Better than square threads:
Square threads do give you more power than the usual round or spiral threads. They offer a greater grip. The trapezoidal threads can match the square threads in this activity. In addition, they are cost effective. This makes many industries opt for tools that have trapezoidal threads.
Trapezoidal threads require engineering acumen of high quality. Using the trapezoidal thread taps is easy. You do not have to depend on operation workers. Due to their heavy duty appearance, machine taps are the best option. You get a higher degree of accuracy when you use trapezoidal thread taps.
Precautions to take:
Manufacturing trapezoidal threads should not be difficult if you manage to take the following precautions.
Proper alignment is vital. Any misalignment can prove dangerous to the operator as well as to the machine.
Never go for the floating type of holders while manufacturing trapezoidal threads. One should ensure that the tap does not move out of the axis position under any circumstances.
There should be no rotational of axial forces acting on the work piece. Hence, one should ensure that you chuck up the work piece perfectly. Similar to the ACME threads, these are very strong threads.
There should be no opportunity for the tap to slide out of the hole. The hole should be of perfect size. Check out the thread tap size before using it.
This is a machine generated operation. Hence, you have a lot of heat generation. You need adequate amounts of coolants to make the task easier. Have as much coolant as possible and ensure that the job is done smoothly.
If you take these precautions, it should not be difficult to manufacture trapezoidal threads. You end up saving a lot of time and money in the bargain.

Thread Mills for Pipe Threading: Common Terms
The following terms and designations are fundamental to understanding thread type, form, and more. The following terms and designations are fundamental to understanding thread type, form, and more.

● Class of thread: An alphanumerical designation indicating a thread’s grade of tolerance or allowance. Common thread classes are categorized under Metric, NPT, UN, and ACME designations.
● Crest: The portion of the thread which joins the flanks of the thread; the “highest” portion, furthest away from the cylinder.
● Flank: One of two surfaces connecting the crest with the root at the base of the thread.
● Helix angle: The angle between a thread’s helix and a line parallel to the axis of rotation.
● Major diameter: Diameter of the major cylinder, for straight threads. The distance from one thread’s crest to the corresponding thread’s crest on the other side, traveling perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
● Minor diameter: The diameter of the minor cylinder, for straight threads. The distance from one thread’s root to the corresponding root on the other side, traveling perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
● Pitch: Distance between corresponding points on threads, taken parallel to the thread axis; for instance, crest to crest, parallel to the thread axis, gives a pitch measurement.
● Root: The surface of the thread which is adjacent to the cylinder or cone from which the thread rises.
● Thread angle: The angle between the thread flanks. For instance, NPT threads have a 60° thread angle. Thread Types
There are many standard thread types, among the following:
● ACME: ACME threads were developed in the late 1800s to replace square threads and feature a trapezoidal thread form, with a “flat” crest. They are strong, easy to manufacture, and often used for lead screws.
● American Pipe Threads (NPT, NPTF): National Pipe Tapered Threads or National Pipe Tapered for Fuels, both with a 60° thread angle. These require thread sealant for a leakproof seal.
● BSPP: British Standard Pipe Parallel Thread, with a thread flank angle of 55°.
● BSPT: British Standard Pipe Taper Thread, also with a thread flank angle of 55°.
● UN: Unified National Threads, commonly used screw, nut, and bolt threads in the United States and Canada. They have a flank angle of 60°.
Where Can You Get High-Quality Thread Mills for Pipe Threading? Thread mills for pipe threading represent a significant improvement over cutting threads with a tap and die.
Thread milling is superior for cutting threads on exotic materials, softer non-ferrous alloys, and materials with thin walls. Thread milling uses mills that are more stable, have fewer limitations, and offer superior chip evacuation.
They are also faster and more efficient than taps and dies, and produce higher-quality threads. Moreover, one thread mill for pipe threads has greater flexibility and can cut both internal and external threads, whereas a tap and die can only be used to cut one type in a specific size.
If you’re looking for high-quality thread mills for pipe threading, visit Online Carbide online at OnlineCarbide.com. They carry a wide variety of solid carbide cutting tools and thread mills, including mills for NPT, NPT, UN, and metric threads, and select orders even qualify for free shipping.

What Are The Types Of Threads Listed In Metric Thread Charts?
Metric threads are considered as the gap between each thread in millimeters. These inch threads are the length between each thread in inches. However, a metric thread chart is a standardized chart made to quantify or identify the kinds of threads used in a material. These charts help you in measuring the pitch measurements in metric. Moreover, these charts are used to measure the thread dimensions.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) first published the metric chart in 1947. Therefore, thread charts are one of the most sought guides or references people look for thread measurements. Let's look at the major types of threads listed in the thread chart.

7 Major Types Of Threads Listed In Metric Thread Charts
Metric charts are often used to check the standardization of a thread. These threads are usually reviewed by essential software like Tap Pro. Moreover, these charts are often used to calculate the metric thread dimensions before placing them in the marketplace for sale. Here is the list of the most important threads listed in the metric chart.
1. ISO Metric Thread(M)
The ISO design thread is a standardized thread used worldwide. It is one of the best-known threads used in Europe. Being recognized by the ISO and present in the top place of the metric thread chart, it is called a standard thread. They have the code letter M in the metric chart and have a flank angle of 60 degrees.
2. ISO Metric Fine Thread(IMF)
These threads are often called ISO Fine Metric because of the fine or small metric size. The ISO standardizes these fine metric threads as another primary thread type known for its fine quality and rigid flak angle of 60 degrees. However, the difference lies between the ISO Metric Fine Thread (IMF), and Metric thread (M) in pitch dimensions.
3. Trapezoidal Thread(Tr)
ISO organization and metric thread chart also recognize these threads because of their specific symmetrical trapezoid shape. The code letter of the trapezoidal thread is Tr. Moreover, these threads are known to have smaller flak angles, i.e., 30 degrees. They come in two different variants: rounded trapezoidal thread and flatter trapezoidal thread.
4. Unified National Coarse Thread(UNC)
This Unified Screw Thread is standard equivalent to ISO threads in the USA. These Unified National Coarse Threads are identified with the code letter UNC. These types of threads are calculated in centimeters instead of inches. The flak angle of the UNC thread is 60 degrees.
5. Unified National Fine Thread (UNF)
These are the finer versions of the Unified National Coarse Thread. These threads are identified with the code letter UNF. Moreover, these threads are the American version of the ISO Fine thread type known for higher surface tension and less stress area. These threads came up with a flak angle of 60 degrees.
6. Unified National Special Thread (UNS)
The Unified National Special Thread is one of the particular types of thread that differs from the special Unified threads in the pitch dimensions. These threads are known as UNS code letters in the metric thread chart. Further, the flak angle of these threads is 60 degrees. These threads are used in microphone stands and taps.
7. British Standard Fine (BSF)
The British Standard Fine is the British version of the ISO Fine threads. They go the same as the standard fine metric thread with the same meaning the user corresponds to. Further, the metric thread dimensions chart identifies these threads as BSF. These threads follow the flak angle of 55 degrees.

Explaining trapezoidal thread taps and gauge used for thread construction!

A trapezoidal thread form comprises of a trapezoidal outline and is known as screw thread profiles. These threads are usually seen employed for power screws or lead screws in another name. More often they are located in sites where massive loads are needed mostly like the lead screw of a metal lathe. Now for those who are working with this thread pattern and need assistance, the main instrument they have to own are trapezoidal thread taps. Plus they also have to possess a trapezoidal thread measuring unit for impeccable thread formation.
The most common mistake which most people tyro threaders seem to make is confuse a trapezoidal thread form with an ACME thread form. Not to blame them, both these thread forms are pretty similar. In fact, the difference is only by virtue of 1 degree of measurement.
That’s correct, where an ACME thread form developed way back in 1984 is measured to be at 29 degrees, a trapezoidal thread pattern when measured creates threads angled at 30 degrees. However, the ACME thread pattern is more preferred amongst threading works.
That doesn’t mean that the trapezoidal thread pattern usage has gone one of existence. A number of workers still need threads to be created at 30-degree angle and for that they make use of quality, sturdy and production standard met trapezoidal thread taps.
What are trapezoidal thread taps?
Taking into account that you already are aware of what a tap is, trapezoidal thread taps threading tools which are employed to create or reshape the internal threads of a metal component.
• By shape they are cylindrical and on its body one can distinctly find thread outlines aligned at 30-degree measurements.
• Trapezoidal taps are quite sturdy by nature and have the ability to withstand high levels of pressure and wear and tear.
• These thread taps are prepared with quality metals such as HSS or HSS-E materials
• These metric trapezoidal taps are mostly bright and do not have any coating over it.
They are available in an array of sizes and specs:
These threading taps are available in both individual pieces or in sets. Though it is preferable to purchase in sets! Some of the highly repute suppliers functioning online will give away such trapezoidal taps in these specs:
Tr 8x1.5 tap
Tr 20x4 tap
Tr 32x6 tap
Tr 46x8 tap
Tr 10x2 tap
Tr 22x5 tap
Tr 36x6 tap
Tr 48x8 tap
Tr 12x3 tap
Tr 24x5 tap
Tr 38x7 tap
Tr 50x8 tap
Tr 14x3 tap
Tr 26x5 tap
Tr 40x7 tap
Tr 52x8 tap
Tr 16x4 tap
Tr 28x1.5 tap
Tr 42x7 tap
Tr 18x4 tap
Tr 30x6 tap
Tr 44x7 tap
Another must have instrument with this threading tool:
As stated in the first stanza, along with a tap you must have a measuring tool for accurate threading tasks. These trapezoidal thread gauges, in fact, serves higher importance in the threading task as compared to a tap. The rudiment of a threading job is impeccable measurement. Without it the desired to accomplish impeccability will remain a distant dream. As small as a 0.5 degree can result in a thread being flawless and a thread this is almost perfect!
Trapezoidal thread gauges also come in various sizes and so finding one as per the specs of your tap will not be difficult.
Ending statement:
Check in a reputed website who manufactures as well as supplies trapezoidal thread taps and gauges. You will find plenty, but a couple of tips in finding good ones is checking whether their offered products are tested pre-dispatch or not and also whether they have clients in more than one country. If affirmative, you have your purchasing source, if negative, then skip over to the next one and again check with these aspects.

Anticipating Bottlenecks When Sourcing Thread Gauges And Thread Taps

Sourcing thread gauges and thread taps is a crucial aspect of manufacturing operations, and the process can be fraught with challenges and potential bottlenecks that need careful consideration. These tools play a pivotal role in ensuring the precision and quality of threaded components, making it essential to anticipate and address any obstacles that may arise during the sourcing process.
One common bottleneck in the sourcing of Metric thread gauges and thread taps is the selection of reliable suppliers. Identifying trustworthy and reputable suppliers can be a time-consuming process. It involves conducting extensive research, vetting potential suppliers, and verifying their credentials, quality control measures, and adherence to industry standards. Rushing through this supplier selection phase can lead to partnerships with subpar suppliers, which can jeopardize product quality and reliability.
Another bottleneck arises from the need for stringent quality control. Thread gauges and UN thread taps must meet precise specifications to ensure the accuracy and consistency of threaded components. Implementing robust quality control processes, including inspections, testing, and certifications, is essential. Neglecting these measures can result in the sourcing of substandard tools that lead to product defects, rework, and production delays.
Logistics and shipping can present significant bottlenecks in the sourcing process, particularly when dealing with international suppliers. Delays in customs clearance, shipping disruptions, and unexpected transportation costs can impede the timely arrival of thread gauges and thread taps. It is crucial to have a well-defined logistics strategy and contingency plans in place to address these potential bottlenecks and minimize production disruptions.
Challenges in communication can indeed present substantial obstacles when sourcing thread gauges and thread taps. The significance of establishing efficient communication channels with suppliers, especially when contending with different time zones or language barriers, cannot be emphasized enough. Effective communication serves as a cornerstone for conveying exact requirements, swiftly addressing concerns, and proficiently resolving any emerging issues. Conversely, insufficient communication can lead to misunderstandings, protracted order processing periods, and the looming risk of receiving products that fail to meet the stipulated standards.
Supplier capacity constraints can be a bottleneck, especially when manufacturers require large quantities of thread gauges and thread taps within a short timeframe. Suppliers may have limitations in terms of production capacity, lead times, and available inventory. It is crucial to assess supplier capacity and plan sourcing activities accordingly to avoid delays in fulfilling production requirements.
Balancing cost considerations with the need for high-quality tools is essential to prevent bottlenecks caused by subpar products and their associated repercussions.

A glance at the different types of taps like the trapezoidal thread taps
The thread gauges have their importance in the industry. Similarly, the thread taps have prime responsibilities as well. Let us look at the various types of thread taps like the metric thread taps and the trapezoidal thread taps in this blog.
There are different types of threads. Everyone knows that. Hence, you have different types of gauges. This is the same reason you have different types of taps as well. Taps are used to carve out the internal threads. You need a special tool known as dies to carve out the external threads.
There are different types of taps, the most prominent among them being the straight, spiral and fluteless taps. These are the main categories of taps available in the market. Every tap in the market belongs to any one of these prime categories.
The straight tap is a simple hand-held instrument that you can force into a shaft to cut the threads. You have machines straight taps as well. The function of both these taps is the same. They have pre-determines grooves on it. As you push your way inside the shaft, the grooves cut into the metal and carve out the threads. At the same time, a lot of heat is generated. Hence, you have to use coolant liquids while you drill your way through. The chips that come out of the shaft should also be removed before proceeding further.
The spiral taps have different types of grooves. Here, you can find your way in while the spiral arrangement ensures that the chips come out automatically. When you use the spiral flute tap, you will understand that it is simpler to use it as compared to a hand-help tap.
The trapezoidal threads or the ACME threads are the strongest of threads. They need special kind of taps such as the trapezoidal thread taps and ACME thread taps respectively to carve them out. Even though these threads are similar in shape, there is a difference in the sense that the angle of the threads is different. It is 29 degrees in case of the ACME threads and 30 degrees for trapezoidal threads.
There are special taps known as fluteless taps. They are also very useful in carving out internal threads of various sizes. We are looking at shafts that are already present for us to carve the threads. The modern-day taps are special because you can drill the hole and carve out the threads simultaneously. This is a great advantage. There is a gap between the drilling area and the cutting area. This is because the chips or the debris need to come out while you find your way in. Drilling threads is an art. Of course, no one uses the hand help taps nowadays as you have machines to do the job for you.
Pipes have different kinds of taps. They are known as pipe taps. They can be straight taps as well as tapered taps as you see in the NPT threads. These taps require extra work because it is not possible to drill a tapered hole.
You have just seen the working of some of the kinds of taps in the industry.

First, the new DDC plug & play coilovers will be available for the current Ford Focus RS III (DYB). The great advantage, like with the original suspension, is the driver can switch between the modes via the push of a button and the KW DDC plug & play coilover changes the damper forces within one hundredth of a second. The adjustment of the ride height on the adaptive KW DDC plug & play coilovers is made via the dirt-resistant KW trapezoidal thread on the stainless steel strut and the rear axle height adjustment mechanism. The range allows a continuous lowering of 30 to 50 mm on the front axle and 35 to 55 mm at the rear axles.
As one of the first suspension and coilover manufacturers, KW automotive has offered adaptive coilovers since 2011 that are compatible with numerous factory control systems from various automotive manufacturers. The latest generations of adaptive KW DDC plug & play coilovers are now also available for the current Ford Focus RS III (DYB) and are an intelligent retrofit solution. This complete suspension control system with the adaptive KW Plug & Play coilovers works via the original Ford electronics system which controls the adaptive KW electronic DDC valves. As a result, all you have to do is replace the standard suspension and the KW DDC Plug & Play dampers which connect directly to the original plugs. With the DDC coilovers it is still possible to switch between the different driving modes like Normal, Sport, Racetrack, and Drift. The adaptive DDC coilovers change according to the various modes and keep the Ford Focus RS better controlled at all times. It improves the driving dynamics and gives the driver perfect grip and control. “The Focus RS factory dampers unfortunately aren’t controlled by an active ECU so the car doesn’t benefit from active chassis control”, explains KW Brand Manager Frank Vasquez. “But the dampers are adaptive and are controlled from the cabin using the Ford’s Drive Mode selector.”

Work-holding is Essential
Whether you are sanding, chiseling, hand-planing, or drilling, securely holding your work piece is essential to working safe and obtaining the results that are desired. We have all used a handful of clamps to make stops on your workbench to hand plane against or secured a piece of material with some make-shift jig. There are a variety of commercial jigs and setups out there to make this tasks easier and more efficient. Woodpeckers had come up with a unique system that should be a fan favorite.
2096 Workholding Kit
With simple Phenolic plates in various shapes and sizes, this Workholding Kit allows the user to have an infinite variety of placements to accommodate different stock sizes and applications. This OneTIME tool gets is name from the 20mm dog holes in the Festool MFT that are at 96mm spacings.
The kit comes with (24) 20mm stemmed dogs machined from solid aluminum. Above the stem are heads of varying thickness sized for use with common stock thicknesses.
Dog sizes:
8 – 1/8″ thick for thin stock
4 – 3/8″ thick for stock in the 1/2″ range
4 – .7″ for 3/4″ stock
4 – Project 2″ above the bench top for use on work standing on edge
2 – “trick” dogs feature 1/2″ head with a threaded stem to be used with the 1/8″ thick dogs

The 2096 Workholding Kit comes with 8 1/4″ thick solid Phenolic plates in three different shapes.
Phenolic Plates sizes:
2 – 2″ x 14″ rectangular plates used for stock edges
2 – Wider trapezoid shapes with dog holes
4- – trapezoid plates act as the wedges

All of this is included in a Systainer
The Power Of The Wedge!
The 2096 utilizes the principle of a wedge to apply mechanical force to your material that then butts up against the 2″ x 14″ Phenolic plates. With a couple of taps with a mallet or hand plane, the angle of the edge of the wedge is an extremely solid method of providing clamping force.
Just remember to apply all your work force with the wedge so it tightens the wedge instead of loosening it.
No MFT?
If you don’t own an MFT, there are plenty of videos and tutorials online that show how to make accurate 20mm dog holes that mimic the MFT’s 96mm dog spacing.
Whether it is your assembly table, out-feed table, workbench, or just a sheet of MDF or plywood, you can create as small or large of a dog hole layout as you need.
Conclusion
The latest OneTIME Tool from Woodpeckers has so many applications that is applicable to so many people. If you are someone that is in a small space, such as, a small garage, basement, or shed utilizing an MFT or shop-made unit gives you another task within that footprint of your shop.
If you are someone like myself that really doesn’t have a good system for work holding, then the 2096 Workholding Kit is a dedicated system for that. We are about to start an assembly table build that we are going to put these hole spacing in the top.
A contract that is on the move and the job-site every single day, this is a great system to be able to hold material securely in place.
